OUR QUALITY GUARANTEE
Research Unit offers a quality/factory guarantee on our all leather and leather and canvas goods. The guarantee covers unravelling of stitching, hand work such as rivets falling out or screws coming loose. Each rivet and screw has been pressed in by hand by our artisans. This makes each and every product unique and therefore special and we strive to offer you a high quality product. It does not cover wear and tear over time, negligence (eg. Washing bag in the washing machine) by not obeying the care instructions as set out below. We will however assist you in any way we can by allowing options to repair your bag/product to its initial state should the above occur.
All of our leather products are made from first grade, natural vegetable tanned leather, sourced from a family run tannery in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. Vegetable Tanned ( Organic leather) develops a beautiful patina with time and becomes darker and darker with age and will soften naturally with regular use.
To clean surface dirt and to get rid of dullness, wipe with leather oil or cream. If leather gets wet due to weather, leave to dry at room temperature and wriggle regularly as water may stiffen the leather. Do not immerse in water. Because we hand-dye our leather, colours may transfer onto lighter clothing.
COTTON CANVAS CARE
Our lightweight 100% cotton canvas has a 3M Scotch guarded finish and is water repellent. This fabric cannot be washed or dry-cleaned. To clean, allow hard-soiled dirt to dry, then gently brush off with a soft brush. The fabric can be cleaned gently with a wet sponge, however care must be taken not to get the leather soaked. Care must be taken when wearing dark clothing with the lighter coloured bags as they could attract dye transfer from dark clothing. Canvas can be reproofed with reproofing spray found at your local camping store. To remove light dirt, wipe with a damp micro-fibre cloth. Please note that fabric may fade with time and depending on the usage of your product.
